Musical Director: Marion Maxey
Marion studied singing in London under Jean Austin-Dobson. She has been working successfully with local choirs since 2001 and was a Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year finalist in 2006. Marion is passionate about helping people to gain confidence and self-esteem through making music and in particular from a love of choral singing. Having worked in several Hampshire schools she is currently the music teacher at Romsey Abbey Primary School. In 2014 she became the musical director of the Romsey Male Voice Choir and in 2015 started Romsey Voices – an adult choir for mixed voices which now has 75 members. This year she and Chris started a Romsey Youth Children’s Choir to form a feeder choir of junior school age singers.
RYC Accompanist: Chris Maxey
Although not a musician by profession, Chris has always been keen support his wife’s choir ventures. He accompanies the RYC at rehearsals and performances as well as taking a close role in the running of the choirs. He also accompanies Marion’s school choirs and Romsey Voices.
